1 Month

Our little princess is one month old today.  I cannot believe it!  She is smiling and starting to "talk" more.  She loves to eat and is filling out quite a bit.  We got her a new Zolo wear sling and life could not be grander.  We also moved her out of her newborn napper into the bassinet part of her play yard.  She slept well for her first night laying flat.  Today we had lunch with our great friends Carrie and Channing and then flew through Target for some essentials.  Can you say Lanolin!  Post Target we headed to Mimi and Gampaw's for a much needed feeding.  We then took the dreaded trip to Wally World to return some gifts for a baby boy and I found a new bedspread for the twin in the nursery.  It is super cute and I will share once I get it all arranged.  It has those cute little birds all over it.  This evening when Daddy got home, we went for our first stroller ride.  The weather was wonderful and you definitely enjoy being outside.  The pictures below are from yesterday's photo shoot with Mimi.  Aunt Amy gave us this sweet dress.  I plan to be better at keeping my blog updated, especially for our Aunt Whoppa and extended family.  I am loving being a Mommy to the sweetest baby girl I know!  We love you Bombolina!  Happy one month to you!

2 Weeks

The little pumpkin is now 7lb 13 oz.  She is filling out her newborn wrinkles with a little chub.  We are so excited!  I have definitely got my hands full with Sophia, feedings, Harvey, the house, keeping up with the budget.....you know, life in general.  It is overwhelming at times, but Jaime has been such a great help and a great encourager.  I still plan to post the birth story, but I need a little help from the hubs, due to a lack of memory from the meds.  If you would like to see her birth announcement photo shoot go here.  I will post again soon.

1 week old

This is our precious Sophia.  She entered the world on February 24, 2009 at 8:49p.m.  She weighed 7 lbs. 7oz. and was 19 inches long.  She is a beautiful gift and we are so thankful she is healthy and that she is here.  She had a mild case of jaundice, but her levels are decreasing daily.  No more cause for alarm, says her pediatrician.  I will blog about my labor and her birth, plus add many more pictures very soon.  Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement.  We are so blessed by our great God!!

Here we go....

It is 8:18pm and we are headed to my Mom's house soon to drop off Harvey and to visit with Kristin and Reese.  We are scheduled to be at the hospital by 10pm.  The induction became a necessity as of today.  My blood pressure was high on top and bottom and it is time for Baby Ellis to enter the world.  We are so excited and we will try to keep you updated and post pictures.  The doctor said he/she would be here by tomorrow afternoon, if not sooner.  We love you guys and we are so grateful to have such a loving family and such great friends.  Please pray for us.

We are moving along!!

After a great lunch at Outback with great friends named Ashley and Ashley, I came home and worked in the baby's room.  I had about 2 hours before my doctor's appointment, so I needed to stay busy.  These pictures are the fruit of my labor, with the help of a handy dandy staple gun on loan from Mom and Dad.  What do you think of the nursery so far?

The glider was given to us by some dear friends and we recovered it.  Aunt Lucie helped with the cushions and I did the footstool with the staple gun.  Still waiting on the twin comforter until we know what we are having.

Here is the peanut's crib and bedding.  I hung Oliver's name just for the hubs and he put the remaining letters of Sophia's name in the crib.  The ribbon is brown with white polka dots.

The shadow box pictures were really fun to make.  My sister Whop, sis-in-law Holly, and I each made one for the baby's room.  The pack and play is also ready and assembled, but cannot go in our room until the new carpet comes on Tuesday.  We really are so close now and I cannot focus my mind on much besides having this little one.  I feel a little loopy and a lot cumbersome!  I am 1cm dilated and 60% effaced for anyone wanting to know where we are at.  Next appointment is Thursday unless the peanut decides to come sooner.  Have a happy Valentine's Day and a great weekend.

Just Waiting

Here we are, only 2 1/2 weeks to go.  I am beside myself with the idea that he/she could arrive at any moment.  It feels like waiting for Christmas morning as a child.  I never slept well because I was so excited about unknown gifts, and I did not want to miss hearing Santa and his reindeer.  I find myself in all sorts of frenzies trying to get prepared.  I finally packed my suitcase yesterday, but there is only so much you can put in until last minute.  We went to childbirth class on Saturday and the reality of all things "birthing" sunk in.  I have known for a long time much of what is involved in giving birth, but now that I am the one....Whoa!  So needless to say, I am a bit apprehensive about it.  I am praying for great nurses to guide this ship safely into the harbor.  I really cannot believe we are down to the last little bit.  I am trying to get as much rest as possible and to enjoy this quickly passing season.  Our little peanut will be here before we know it, so we are just waiting and enjoying each others company.  I have an appointment on Thursday to see if we have progressed and I will post again then.  Thanks for coming along on this journey with us.  Please continue to pray for a healthy baby and safe delivery.

Grand Opening!!

My sister has finally opened for business.  She has got quite a nack for making "all things baby and toddler."  The name of her site and the precious little one in the pictures is my niece Reese.  Please click on the picture above, check out her site, and send a little encouragement her way!  Thank you.
